VDOM

an app-connected adult wearable that goes from flaccid to erect at the push of a button.

Professional Work

Date: 4/23 - Present

VDOM, a sextech company that created a groundbreaking penis prosthetic, hired me to redesign their user interface and refine their user experience. Redesigning their user interface was an interesting challenge because their three largest consumers have very little in common. Their product reaches lesbians and the trans community, men with erectile dysfunction, as well as paraplegics, but for the sake of designing a MVP we chose to focus on their Lesbian audience. In order to analyze their user experience I created a site map as well as a user flow that will prove to be useful as their product expands and continues to add features.

Highlight

For this project I was tasked with redesigning the main button on the app that allows the user to inflate and deflate the prosthetic. I particularly enjoyed this part because I had the opportunity to animate the button and create a memorable, positive experience when utilizing the app for one of its key features

Mood Board

After identifying the persona that we wanted to focus on with the stakeholder, I then created a mood board to present to the client. This phase helped us identify the atmosphere as well as the general aesthetic that we wanted to portray in the product.

Site Map

In order to create an organized product with deliberate information architecture I created a site map to illustrate a visual of their various screens. This set them up for success as they grow and more screens to their product.

User Flow

Creating the User Flow for VDOM was a challenging, yet rewarding task because it required us to record every different path the user may take, but once it was completed we had a solid base to add to as they continue to add features to their app.

High Fidelity Prototype

Following the first round of iterations I began exploring the different routes of which the user will move throughout the product. I was inspired by dating apps that present users with various options including the option to interact with another user.

Conclusion

After completing this project my biggest take away was the impact of working collaboratively with a stakeholder. By working closely with the client, I was able to identify the aesthetic they envisioned while pushing them to remain true to the persona we had decided to focus on. I’m looking forward to the work I will complete with VDOM in the future as they continue to add new features and as I continue to grow as a designer amongst a team that is leading the way for sextech innovation.
